Grant Lipman, MD was born in Cape Town, South Africa before immigrating to Portland, Oregon as a young boy. He spent the first half of his professional career in academics as a professor of emergency medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine and running their Wilderness Medicine Fellowship. He traveled as an expedition doctor on six continents, ran clinical trials, and published original research on the human condition and exercise in extreme environments around the world.

He left academics and recently started Global Outdoor Emergency Support (GOES.Health), the world’s first digital outdoor health platform. He loves the clinical environment of community emergency medicine and the camaraderie and flexibility of being a part of EPA. Dr. Lipman lives in Redwood City with his wife, two children, and a dog named Dash. He enjoys trail running (with his dog), exploring the Sierra Nevada backcountry, and skiing wherever the snow is deepest.
